How Google Analytics Works?
Before we dive in google the analytics platform, I want to talk first about the what’s going on, under the hood, by understanding how Google Analytics works.
You will be better equipped to identify the problems with your setup or understand why certain data normally might occur.
There are four components to help the google analytics system works.
- Data collection.
- Data Processing.
How to Use Google Analytics. (Track the website.)
You place this code on your website (background Header or footer) and when the user arrives and code comes to a lively start to collect the data about how the user engages with your site.
How Google Analytics Works?
Some of the data come with the website itself, like the URL of the web pages, that the user viewing, the other data gets collection user’s browsers. Like the language.
The browser set to, the browser name, and the device and operating system used to access the site, and this is how you can see the that the most of your user’s Mac or PC, or iPhone or Android.
Even referring to the source that brought the user, the site in the first place.
Say a blog site or a Facebook post.
All the information that pushes to google analytics servers to wait for processing.
What Does Google Analytics Track?
Google looks at each piece of data, and interactions, or hit, and every time the user visits a new page on your site, the code collects and send new updated information about user activity.
Now the Google has the all of the information the start processing and this can take anywhere 4 to 24 hours.
You can think about processing as the step takes all of the raw information and turns it something useful.
From there, Google will organize the information going to categorize users by whether they new or returning and determine the stay on the site it, and even leaving the link, together with all the pages, viewed.
In order to view them. It is also at this stage that Google applies any configuration settings you preset for that raw data. And we can talk more about those later.
But in the example of this, would be if you want to this excludes to say, self or your office, for appearing any report, once your data is processed than it is going to be stored in the database.
From here the last element is reporting and this is where we are spending the majority of this course looking at, you are going to be accessing the report, through the google analytics web interface and its there.
We can interact with all of your data, now it is possible to grab the data using the Google APIs, that we are not going to be covering that in this course, there are a lot does goes want under the hood, to make google analytics possible.
If you are really curious you can explore the google documentation in google developer guidelines it is readings does give you even closer look at how all of these elements work together.
